Oh my gosh! I'm addicted to Youtube.

It was cool to see the Summer Reading Program Promos on Youtube. I think you guys got the right idea for Youtube usage for our library system.

I thought that Podcast.net was the easiest directory to use. You just search and click on play and it goes right to it. It was easy to subscribe to the feed too. It was easy to play podcasts in Yahoo Podcasts too but when I tried to subscribe to the feed it wanted me to download some software and I didn't see a RSS feed link on it for my particular search. With Podcastalley.com it wanted me to download a podcast aggregator in order to listen. Didn't like that.

I did a search on knitting and it brought back a ton of podcast on this subject. I think that it would be fun to listen to one of these podcast on knitting while I'm knitting.

I think that if we did podcasts of our meetings it would be nice for those that missed the meeting to be able to listen to it and it would be easier than taking notes.

As a LTA I'm suppose to teach other staff how to use new software or products as we get them and downloading audio books was one of them. I've done audio books, videos, and music. I know that we are not suppose to download the media console onto our staff pcs but I did it because I need to be able to teach staff. So I've been doing this downloading thing for a while now and it's really nice. I love listening to audio books while driving so I think that that is what I will download onto my mp3 player. I also love listening to music while working around our AMH machine so the other half will be music. We also have a couple of the new pc build public stations with the writeable cd drives and the audio download application so I've been helping patrons with that too.

That was awesome! I never knew that something similar to these expensive software were out there free for all to use. Now my work will be there where ever I'm at. I really liked Zoho because it looked a lot like Word and Excel and it had so much more to play with and they're all FREE.

The Google Labs lesson was fun. The people at Google are such ingenious people. I looked at a bunch of them and found some likes and dislikes.
Here are my likes.
Google Music Trends-It's a good place to seek out music to add to my play list.
Google Notebook-I'm always surfing and jotting down things. Well now I just need to select it and clip. It's so much easier. I'm going to enjoy this product.
Google Reader-This is like Bloglines with RSS feeds. I have to explore more and see which one I like better and go with that one.
Here are my dislikes.
Google Transit-I liked it a little bit because it had graphics but I compared it to Metro's site and it didn't give as precise directions as it did on Metro's site. But right on the Google transit site it does refer you to King County Metro's site.
Google Trends-Sorry this didn't excite me. I didn't understand the graph and there were no explanations.

I went with Web 2.0 Awards just because they had more on their list. I looked at, play with, and even signed up for some of these web services. I thought how cool it would be to publish something using Lulu.com, go over to Vflyer.com and creat a flyer to post all over the web, and open up an online store using Shopify.com to sell it. I never knew how easy it can be using these services out there. No wonder why there are all these weird and crazy things out there in the world and I was wondering to myself, why would someone ever publish something like that. That's how!

I also looked at 43things.com, it's just a list of things people want to do. I thought it would be interesting to see if everybody else wanted to do the same things I wanted to.

Backpackit.com was a nice service because it lets you create a to do check list and as you acomplish them you can check it off. Very cool!

Looking through Thinkfree.com I thought that the it might be easier to use and work with but I think I'll stick with Zoho.

I really liked picnik.com for editing pictures. There's alot of stuff you can do even with the beta version of the service.

There were way too many services to look and I got really tired but these were the ones that caught my eyes.

I've always used Google to do my searching and have come to love and trust searching on Google. So of course I went with Google but I did check out Rollyo too. I thought that Rollyo was a bit slow at returning search results. Google Custom Search Engine was faster and I liked the familiar look of it.

Here's the link to my search engine.

I feel that the way technology is moving, we'll be a Library 4.0 in no time and some of our patrons would love it. Some of our services that we offer to our patrons are great like the E-medias, burning to cds, self checkout, and self checkin, but like Rick Anderson said, "Libraries are poorly equipped and insufficently staffed for teaching." So how are we going to train all those patrons? And even before us teaching them we all have to be trained.

I like all this technology but I still love walking into a beautiful old library and browsing it's shelves. I love it when we get new books and I love seeing and talking to our regular patrons. But I know that we have to provide services to meet our tech savvy patrons' needs. So I guess I'll see you in Secondlife as a librarian avatar?

I can not believe that I'm doing this. But it was FUN! I really wanted Cartman's double chin but they didn't have that. It wasn't a really close match but close enough.

Simpson's character was not even close. I wished they had more stuff to play with. Still fun though.
I've been using Wikipedia for a while but never knew that anybody could edit it. Never knew what wikis were either. It was something new for me.

I really like the ALA Wiki because it like having a friend that lives there and can show you around. It's nice that whoever thinks of something useful can just add it. The Book Lover's Wiki is something we can do here at KCLS. Our Teen Librarian has a book review list done by teens that can definitely be put on a wiki. That would be something really cool for all teens to participate in. Another thing that I can see us doing is putting together a "how to" list like the "Best practices wiki" and as things change we can all edit it to go with the changes.

I'm going to try making my own "To do list" and "Grocery list" wikis. I think that this will be.

Are you blogging this?
